Faith Marie's Submissions for the Month of June 2008!

Hiya Henri, I love your blue jay pics. We have one that visits the back yard, along with a cardinal and a tiny woodpecker, but they are always gone till I go and grab my camera..sigh. You were lucky to get such great shots. June submissions: The first picture is of the historic Union Canal Tunnel in my town. This tunnel is the oldest existing transportation tunnel in the United States. At the time of its construction, it was considered a work almost unknown in this country. The first boat to pass through the tunnel was the Alpha of Tulpehocken on June 12, 1827. Boats were poled through the tunnel against the ceiling, while mules were led over the top of the ridge.. They still have a boat pulled by a horse that takes humans down the canal to the tunnel. I wouldn't want to swim there! Yuck. The second picture is inside the flower booth at the annual city street fair. Last, I snapped Butch and Legs, the ferals, in stately repose. They looked like a couple of lions in the delta and I couldn't resist. Purrs, Faithy

Faith Marie's Submissions for the Month of July 2008!

The first picture is of the Tabor UCC a block away. Itis the oldest church in town. American Indians claimed the land Tabor UCC now stands on until sometime in the early 1700’s, when the land was taken over by German settlers. A log church was constructed and dedicated on July 18, 1762 and in 1777, two hundred Hessian prisoners of war and their wounded were housed in the church. Sometime during the winter of that same year, many of the Hessians escaped from the church, leaving no trace of their whereabouts. The second picture is inside our Farmer's Market, taken from the second floor. I know there are a few humans in it but I agree with Ashley that they are relevant to the subject!

Faith Marie's Submissions for the Month of August 2008!

I don't have any flying pictures, but the first submission is of a birdy town in Uncle Garin's back yard. All the houses are full, I checked! #2 is a picture of Honey the Golden, doing what she loves to do best in her pool. Honey is 11 and owns daddy's sisfur.
