Chevy's June 2008 Photographs!
Meow Henri,
This has been a tough month for this feline. I had some sort of virus that lingered for almost 3 weeks. In addition, the weather has been terribly rainy. Not conducive for a cat to go outside in.
I thought that I would show you and Clarence one of the unique things about the area where I live...cobblestone buildings built in the years preceding the Civil War. It was a very short-lived construction method with the majority of them residing within a 65-mile areas of Rochester. The simplest definition of a cobblestone defines it by size. It's a stone that can be held in one hand. They can either be fieldstones or water-rounded stones. They are the result of the glaciers melting and receding millions of years ago. This cobblestone building was built in 1842 as the village school. It's been the home of the Masonic Lodge since 1892. I've also attached a closer look of the courses of cobblestones.
I also took a picture of the Genesee River Gorge. The Genesee starts just across the border in Pennsylvania and flows for 157 miles to Lake Ontario.
Thanks for your patience this month! I hope to be quicker next month.
Purrs,
Chevy

Chevy's July 2008 Photographs!
It's been so rainy here lately that it's been difficult to get a decent picture or rather to get the picture that I have in mind. Last night there was a torrential downpour and I took this photo. I think that with the help of a little photo editing for lighting, that I was able to show the intensity of the rain pretty well.

The sun finally shone long enough around 5 p.m. for me to get some shots of one of my friends. This is Mr. Hummer. He is always very busy and doesn't sit still very long but he did pose for me one day!

Chevy's August 2008 Photographs!
Chevy sent me some photos of flying bugs which were flitting around her garden!

Woof Henri,
Yes, it has been a "woof" type of month. I have to admit that these "free shoot" months are difficult for me as I like having a specific topic to plan for and shoot. After much deliberation, I decided that since I'm trying to learn how to use Photoshop, I should create a lesson for myself so I took a mediocre shot and learned to apply some canned Actions to them.
I know that some of the differences are very subtly but I think I like Vintage the best. Which one do you like best?
I got the Actions from Pioneer Woman who has a lot more experience in Photoshop that I do. http://thepioneerwoman.com/photography/ I can only aspire to her level of knowledge (and every other! PhotoShop is a difficult beast to learn! Clarence might agree that it's similar to our people's Unix!).
